Oh, I wish stuff like this had happened when I was in band. My status as a legend is solely because I played badly even by junior high school band standards. Oh, and because my little brother and oldest cousin liked to wait on the tallest building in town (3 stories) and throw hangers at me as we marched past. Surprisingly good aim.

As a native Arizonan, I feel compelled to point out that yes, in my home state, you can begin the day in the midst of Ponderosa-pine-speckled mountains (in northern AZ, where I grew up) and end the day in the Sonoran Desert. But as a got-here-as-fast-as-I-could Texan, I wholeheartedly endorse your Greatest Road Trip expedition. Have a blast. I look forward to reading your dispatches.

It’s funny reading your thoughts. I moved to Texas from DC after I graduated from college because I had grown up on the east coast. I lasted less than a year living outside of Austin! It was fun but not for me. It’s interesting hearing your perspective though! Good luck with your last semester!
