Pink Sweater Guy
Today is Sunday, which means Frank Warren will be posting secrets to his Web site again. If you’re not familiar with PostSecret, you should definitely click on that link and check it out (Notice: It may be NSFW).
Having finished reading today’s secrets, I decided to head over to LiveJournalSecret (also NSFW), which is the generic version of PostSecret (much like Wal-mart’s Dr. Thunder, it never does taste quite the same as the mainstream Dr. Pepper).
Behold: Pink Sweater Guy’s* Plea for Non-Stereotyping (and my favorite secret to-date)
I love the fact that this guy likes to wear pink sweaters and isn’t ashamed of that fact. It makes me wonder how many pink sweaters he has, and why he likes pink so much when society often tells men that pink is only for girls and women. Does he like pink because it compliments his skin tone? Or remind him of cotton candy? Does he call it a “salmon-colored sweater” in front of those who question him about it? Are sweaters the only items of clothing that he owns in shades of pink?
I wish I could talk to him. He sounds pretty interesting. I’ve been trying to imagine what he’s like, but all I can come up with is a younger version of Mister Rodgers (since he likes sweaters and seems like he’s normally a patient guy who puts up with repeated questions).
*Because LJSecret is anonymous, Pink Sweater Guy could be a girl. I’m assuming he’s a guy based on the fact that our society tells us that pink is girly. Also, it appears to be a guy in the photo. But hey, maybe I’m wrong. There’s always a possibility.
