The Lil Scholar’s College Fund

It started while I was reading one of my books for class. I turned the page, and voilá! I find this slip of paper:

Who are the “lil scholars”? It doesn’t say. It also doesn’t list a place to contribute to the fund. Or why it was even printed.

I’m pretending that whoever placed it in my book did so as they sold it back to the SMU Bookstore. They probably used the paltry sum they got for it to start the Lil Scholar’s College Fund.

Or maybe it was an employee of the Bookstore who sold the book and then kept the money for the college fund instead of placing it in the cash register (although I used my debit card to purchase it).

Maybe I should start my own college fund. I can set up a PayPal account and take donations through my blog. Anybody want to invest in me? It’s well worth the effort, I can assure you.

But back to my story. I was considering all of this when I placed my camera (which I had to use to take a picture of the flyer because my scanner is about as useful as a drunken squirrel) on my desk. It took only a fraction of a second for the camera to fall off my desk (much like that drunken squirrel would fall out of a tree). Not only did it fall, but it was still on and the lens was still out. Now the lens is broken. I can still take pictures, but they aren’t as focused and I can’t zoom without getting “Lens error. Please restart camera.”

Tomorrow I’ll dig up the warranty and see whether I’ll need to purchase a casket and gravesite for the camera.

In the meantime, may I suggest that you make your cameras a little sturdier for those of us who are clumsy and prone to dropping expensive electronics, Canon?
