It’s a dorm thing [part two].
Continued from Part 1.
Morrison-McGinnis: Basically, it’s Cockrell-McIntosh’s twin. They’re on opposite sides of the South Quad. Both are four-class halls. Both need renovation. Both have pretty arched porches. Both have hyphenated names that have weird spellings.
Multicultural House: It’s on the north side of campus. That’s basically all I can say.
Peyton: Mary Hay’s big brother (as I like to think). The second half of the FAC (fine arts community). They’ve also got a piano in the lounge. But unlike MH, they actually have TWO entrances. One in the front, one on the side. As a resident of a room on the side of MH, I’m jealous. Extremely jealous. However silly that sounds. Plus, Peyton is architecturally more appealing. Downside? No single rooms. Which is why I chose MH.
Perkins: This was my freshman-year dorm, located next to the God Quad (Please call it that–I’m trying to bring it back). Home to the Hilltop Scholars (which really isn’t all that special) and sister dorm to Smith. I believe it’s one of the dorms on the list for renovation next year, which is good because it needs it. I was forced to endure a year without television (and for me, that’s essential). Although I did learn to find things (videos) on the Internet though. Which I suppose is good. I’ve discovered many TV shows that I otherwise wouldn’t have. But overall, Perkins wasn’t so bad.
Shuttles: This dorm was renovated my freshman year. Before that, it was known as “Shittles.” Now it’s thought of as a nice hotel. Again, it’s four-class and located in the North Quad along with MH, Peyton and VS. Good location on campus.
