First of all, the internet at the hotel is extremely crappy. And I had to pay for it.
But other than that, Kansas City is turning out to be a blast! The flight wasn’t bad at all, and the conference has had some good sessions.
Of course, after the sessions you realize that your paper and journalistic ability are crap and you need to step it up. Which is a bit depressing.
Added to that was the keynote speech on the death of the newspaper in print format. The speaker was very pessimistic. Yes, newspapers are down. But there’s still a future for it.
Or maybe I’m just trying to convince myself I’ll be able to have a career in my chosen field. My blinders must be on.
Tonight we’re traveling to Kansas to go eat BBQ. I’m excited. Kansas was my only request.
You see, I’ve never been to Kansas. And I want to say I have. Even if it’s for two seconds. It counts. I count Oklahoma as a state I’ve visited, and I was there only because my mother took a wrong turn on the highway.
So I’m adding Kansas to the list tonight.
