The Surprising One
Today I visited Carthage’s website (yes, we have one). To my surprise, they’ve totally revamped it! It’s not the most professional looking website by any means, but I have to say, it’s not that bad.

Not to mention, they’ve added loads of stuff. Like where to eat and stay (and including addresses and phone numbers). Information on our “tourist-y” destinations. A history. Information on city officials and meetings. FAQs and information on building permits and such.
I have to say, the absolute best part (and when I say best, it’s because I’m being sarcastic) is the informational videos. Especially the one about our school system.
(and now, off on a tangent I shall go!)
Because CISD is committed to educational excellence. Seriously. And then after that ten seconds, it goes on to describe our athletic system for the majority of the video. And our 2005 state championship in baseball.
Yes, we’re committed to academic excellence. But we’re not going to make any references to our academic achievements. Why? No one cares about those kids who compete in U.I.L. and make it all the way to state (and in debate, nationals).
We’re also not going to mention academics because we were recently declared “academically unacceptable” by the TEA.
And we’re losing our best teachers.
I really hope this new superintendent can fix things.
